Mr. Yeh,

Thanks so much for helping us get the word out to the Heritage Language Schools' teachers to attend the Discover Chinese Professional Development Workshop. You do not need to include the Heritage Schools in Texas since we have someone contacting them. There are a few stipulations which have to be met before the Heritage Teachers can take part in this workshop:

1) Heritage Teachers must be registered as a group from each school.

2) Heritage Teachers cannot be members of CLASS or ACTFL.

3) This must be the first time any of the Heritage Teachers have attended the ACTFL Convention.

4) Heritage Teachers will receive a complimentary registration for the workshop (W33) and either Friday or Saturday of the ACTFL Convention.

5) Each teacher must fill out the registration form which is attached. All forms from the same school must be faxed as a group to the fax number listed on the top of the form.

6) The deadline to return completed registration forms is October 31, 2007 with no exception. After this date payment must accompany any registration form.

7) Heritage Teachers must make housing reservations online at www.actfl.org .

Here is some additional information about the workshop:

CLASS and ACTFL have joined with the Office of Chinese Language Council International (Hanban) to present a full-day, pre-convention workshop on Thursday, November 15, 2007 entitled Discover Chinese Professional Development Workshop.

This full-day workshop on Thursday, November 15, is designed to provide current and prospective teachers of Chinese at the K-12 level with an overview of standards-based instruction, curriculum and assessment as well as classroom management strategies. The presenters will also discuss strategies for building successful Chinese programs as well as information about resources available for teacher certification. Two break-out sessions in the afternoon will afford participants the option of choosing to learn about the Putonghua Proficiency Test or the ACTFL Modified Oral Proficiency Interview. Some presentations during the workshop will be in Chinese.
