Dear Jay,

Hello! My name is Mei-Yun Loh. I have recently joined Thomson Learning Asia as their BD/Product Manager in the Bay Area to assist in the publication of Jia You! (加油!), our AP Chinese program.

The Editor-in-Chief of the Jia You! Chinese for the Global Community is Professor Jialu Xu (許嘉璐), a distinguished linguist in mainland China and Dean of School of Chinese Language and Culture, Beijing Normal University. The authoring team is made up of Chinese and American specialists in the fields of education, psychology, Chinese linguists, English linguistics, cultural studies and information technology.

The Jia You! program comes in two volumes. The entire offering - which includes the Student Texts, Workbooks, Audio CDs, Teacher's Resource Manuals and e-Workbook, will be available in Spring 2008.

We are currently looking for teachers and experts in the US to help us review Volume 1 of the Jia You! Student Text, Workbook and Teacher's Resource Manual. We will pilot the Jia You! program in Fall this year with a select group of schools.

We'd like to extend this invitation especially to you and anybody in NCACLS that you feel will be able to provide valuable input and ideas to help us develop Jia You! for publication. The reviewer will be asked to review selected lesson(s) of the text and then fill out a questionnaire. It is Thomson's practice to pay our reviewers a fee ($150-200 per chapter) for their time and effort.

For teachers who are interested, please have them include their names, teaching experience, email addresses, school, school address, phone numbers, and state when/if they plan to offer the AP Chinese course and potential student enrollment.

I anticipate your favorable reply. Thank you!

Cheers,

Ms Mei-Yun Loh
Business Development/Product Manager
