各位校長、各位理事：

由於很多中文學校連續放假兩星期，有老師反應略晚收到通知，來不及報名，
北加州中文學校聯合會本學年度唯一開辦的CBEST寫作班將延後一週開課，第一次
上課日期是三月四日，最後一次為四月八日。煩請將修正後的報名表轉知有興趣報
名的貴校老師及家長，現在還有幾個名額可報名。謝謝！

Since many Chinese Schools are on vocation for these two week, many teacher
cannot mail out their registration form on time. ANCCS 's CBEST writing class will
postpone to start on 3/4/08. Please help to resent the revised registration form to those

Lecturer Positions in Chinese at UC Davis

The Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures (EALC) at the
University of California, Davis, invites applications for two full-time
positions of Lecturer of Chinese beginning July 1, 2008. These are
one-year renewable appointments. Primary duties are modern Chinese
(Mandarin) courses at various levels as assigned. One of the positions
may also involve teaching Chinese literature and culture courses and/or
classical Chinese in accordance with departmental needs. The current
teaching load is 11-12 class meeting hours per week or 7-9 courses for
the three-quarter academic year. Salary is commensurate with
qualifications and experience, ranging from $42,074 (MA without
experience) to $46,442 (PhD with experience).

Requirements include an MA or above in either Chinese linguistics,
second-language acquisition or pedagogy, literature, or other relevant
fields, native or near-native proficiency in Mandarin and English,
excellence in teaching all levels of Mandarin. The department prefers
candidates with college teaching experience in the U.S., good knowledge
on current developments of second language pedagogy, and the ability to
apply modern technology in classroom teaching.

Application materials should include a cover letter describing your
qualifications (including a brief description of teaching methods found
to be successful), curriculum vitae, a demonstration on video tape or CD
of recent classroom teaching, samples of student evaluations, and three
letters of reference. Send complete application to: Prof. Chengzhi Chu,
East Asian Languages and Cultures, 5th floor, Sproul Hall, University of
California, One Shields Avenue, Davis, CA 95616-8601 by March 10, 2008.
Positions will remain open until filled. The University of California
